A New Era of Weight Loss

Weight loss injections like Wegovy, Mounjauro, and Zepbound are revolutionizing the management of obesity. These medications are a class called GLP-1 receptor agonists that work by mimicking gut hormones regulating appetite and blood sugar.  Originally developed for type 2 diabetes (like Ozempic and Mounjaro), they have also been incredibly effective at weight loss, leading numerous patients to lose between 15-25% of their body weight in addition to diet and exercise.

Unlike earlier weight-loss medications, these injections attack the causes of overeating at their source, slowing down digestion and inducing satiety. Though they have been reported to have side effects (such as nausea and cost/access issues), their efficacy has fueled unprecedented demand. These medications are designed for chronic weight management, not speedy weight loss.
